Opening Match GNC Soccer Tournament 06/07

Win for Sagarmatha and Lidcombe Gurkhas in opening day of GNC 07 (Nov 26)

Both Sagarmatha FC and Lidcombe Gurkhas came with a win but had to work hard for it.

Sagarmatha FC (SFC )defeated promising Neutral Bay FC (NBFC) by 3 goals to 2 where as Lidcombe had a convincing start but had to fight in the end for 4-2 win against Club Nepal.

It was only in last 5 minutes when SFC scored 2 late goals to win their opening match. NBFC playing with mostly new players played a very competitive game and made Sagarmatha boys work hard for the result. It was Neutral Bay who opened the account when SFC keeper miss judge the through ball and Andrew had a free shot on the free post. This goal did shocked not only Sagarmatha but also the crowd who were expecting Sagarmatha to dominate the game. Binam equalised through the mid way of first half for sagarmatha to ease some pressure off.

As the game was heading for a draw a miss communication between the Sagarmatha defence line gave Andrew of NBFC a clear chance to score his second of the match and he made no mistake.
But it was only in last few minutes when Binam scored his second of the game from penalty spot and Kewal scored a tricky free-kick to give defending champion a winning start.

After a hard fought win, SFC captain had to say, "Not impressive at all... we were just lucky to be a winner today.. we need to improve a lot if we need the same result that we acheived last year... many respect to NBFC boys .. they made us work really hard... "

In the second match of the opening day, Lidcombe Gurkhas did dominate the start of the game and scored 2 quick goals. Club Nepal did had a few good chances but the strong defence of Lidcombe Gurkhas never gave Club Nepal much space to capitalised on their chances.

While dominating the most of the first half Lidcombe Gurkhas were rocked when Rockdale scored and bought game to another level.
However winner for NAWS 2006, Lidcombe Gurkhas manage to score 2 more goals to win the game by 4-2.

Next match:

Himalayan Youth Club Vs Club X (1pm)
Laligurans FC Vs Nepalese ThunderStorm (2:45pm)
West United Vs Hurstville United (4:30pm)

Neutral Bay Boys host Holder Sagarmatha FC (Nov 24)

GNC tournament starts with a match between Neutral Bay Boys Vs holder Sagarmatha FC at 2:30pm, Wyatt Park Lidcombe.

Neutral Bay is particitpating for the very first time but their boys are no new to GNC tournament. Unlike other new teams Neutral Bay boys have much experience and are very much capable to upset the holders of GNC 2006, Sagarmatha FC. Filled with few new players and impressive result at NAWS CUP 2006 they surely are a team not to be taken lightly.

On the other hand, Sagarmatha FC, 3 times winner of GNC tournament and winner of Buddha Cup 2006 will surely be looking to dominate the tournament. Blessed with good midfielders, defence and quick passing game Sagarmatha will surely be entertaining the crowd.

Club Nepal entertains NAWS 2006 winner Lidcombe Gurkhas (Nov 24)

In the second match of the opening day of GNC Tournament 06/07, Club Nepal known as Rockdale Boys will play against the Lidcombe Gurkhas, winner of NAWAS 2006 at 4:15pm, Wyatt Park Lidcombe.

Again like Neutral Bay boys Club Nepal is no new to other opponents. They have shown that they are also not a team to be taken lightly in any case. But they haven't been able to succeed yet in any tournaments. This year with few new players and much improved striker line Club Nepal will surely be creating some upset results.

Winner of NAWS 2006, Lidcombe Gurkhas has always been a force among the nepalese football team. Fast game tactics, strong defence line and physical game has been their main weapon. Surely with full of confidence, Lidcombe Gurkhas will be starting their new season for another successful run.
