Children Activities:

Nepalese Children's Activity Group:

The Nepalese Children's Activity Group is a program initiated by the Gurkha-Nepalese Community in Sydney for all children of Nepalese origin.

The Nepalese Children's Activity Group's main objective is to facilitate the learning and practice of the Nepalese Language and Culture. The program is not intended to teach the Nepalese language to a proficient level, but provide a time and a place where the learning and practice of the Nepalese language can be facilitated and aided.

Activity programs will be held on Sunday's from 3pm to 5pm. All classes will be held at the Marrickville West Public School, Cnr of Beauchamp and Livingston St, Marrickville.

The Group commenced activities on Sunday 15th August 2004.

Registration of Children:
Nepalese Children from the ages of 5 to 12 can attend the group. Depending on number of students and abilities the group may be separated into sections.

Parents / Guardians will be required to fill in a Registration Form and bring along to the first group that the child attends.

Term Dates 2004:
The Group will operate on the NSW Public School Term Dates but will take into consideration Nepalese Festival dates.

Guidelines:
The Guidelines are designed to create a formal structure and the responsibilities of Activity Coordinators, Parents and Management.

These Guidelines will be reviewed at the end of each Term and updated as required. [links will be provided later.]

Management:
The Group is at present being managed by a Provisional Steering Committee comprising of Jitman Limbu, Chitra Tumbahangphe, Shashi Rai & Bindya Subba.

It is expected that the Provisional Steering Committe will manage the Group for 2004. In 2005 A Steering Committee representating Parents, Activity Coordinators and GNC Executive Committee will assume responsibility for the management of the Group and its activities.

Sunday 14th November 2004 - Bhai Tika

Any changes to the dates will be notified in advanced to all participants.
